I am a practicing massage therapist, 5+ years. I graduated from two different courses at Sierra Massage School. The Basic Course and the Deep Tissue Course. I recommend anyone who is interested in learning massage to enroll at Sierra Massage School. Dr. Steve Mathews is knowledgeable and down to earth. Starting something new can be stressful and nerve racking, Dr. Steve helps his students succeed. He has a clear cut practicum, easy to understand routine, and he is very approachable. He provides opportunities for his students to get out of the classroom and gain real experience at least once during his course. He brings other professional Massage therapists into class to talk to the students about their experiences; overall he provides a forum for his students to evaluate what they may encounter in this career field. The courses he offers are easy to master in a relatively short amount of time. He is up to date on all state standards and does a great job informing his students of requirements. I have gone on to study with other instructors and schools, how well you do is up to each person. Massage is a wonderfully healing art. Each massage therapist makes their routine shine according to their own interpretation of this art. Dr. Steve does a great job teaching musculature/anatomy, massage routines, etc, and leaves room for each individual to find their own "stride" - not an easy task. I have seen some people be upset that he is not more demanding or forceful in his academia and practicum, but that is not Dr. Steve. He believes in every student's ability to become their own art infused therapist. Dr. Steve provides a clear and concise curriculum that is affordable. His programs will garner anyone who wishes the opportunity to start a rewarding career in therapeutic massage.
